Cosmetic powders enhance the appearance of the skin and make it smooth and soft. Talcum powder absorbs surface moisture and protects the skin against soreness - and especially the delicate skin of babies against nappy rash. Alpine delivers complete systems for the comminution, homogenisation and formulation.

The system schematic below shows a grinding-mixing system for talcum powder laid out for an end-product fineness of 97% < 45 µm and finer. A mere 0.1% perfume (in liquid form) is added to the feed product, in this case chalk or talc, in a special mixer. The downstream comminution and homogenisation is carried out by two UPZ fine impact mills with pin disc equipment connected in series. This particular system is not in pressure-shock-proof design. If, however, an organic product such as cereal starch is used as the powder basis instead of a mineral product, the system should be in pressure-shock-proof design to 10 bar overpressure.

The following is an example of a 10 bar (g) PSR system for face powder, whereby an end-product fineness of 97% < 15 µm was specified. The feed size of the organic feed product is 97% < 35 µm. The Alpine Aeroplex spiral jet mill AS is used for grinding and homogenisation. Formulation of the end product and dedusting of the system takes place in a subsequent on-site process step.
